When I was working on this I had a couple great chit-chats with the late Ernie Salvatore, who covered sports in Huntington in various stages of employment and/or retirement from 1949 until his death in 2009. Talking with him was always a blast, partially because of his (mostly) steel-trap memory, but also because we were both transplants—he was originally from Connecticut, came to Marshall after World War II, and stuck around. As you can hear, we really did have our own old-school East Coast sportswriter.

Here the talk centers on the Huntington Blizzard’s last ownership group. BTW, toward the end “Morris” is the guy who owned it before them, to avoid confusion.
