"Detroit," Meet Detroit

When I was younger, I wanted to move to “Detroit proper”, as I called it—I was born close enough to it and with enough shards of it in my being to want to take the plunge. Being an Oaklander, of course everyone else thought I was crazy. Then my family moved to West Virginia and the point became moot. Still, I’ve always wanted to really take in the whole experience. And still, everyone thinks I’m crazy.
